El Corazón de Ceda Azul, 2024

‘El Corazón de Cera Azul’ or ‘The Blue Silk Heart’ captures a pensive and intimate moment between musician and instrument. The painting gracefully gives us a glimpse into the effort and  connection behind making music; we see the moment where time and space fade away and all that exists is the creation of music.

The light captures the deep concentration of the musician, highlighting his dedication to his craft. Mr. Alan Stribling is the subject of this painting. A lifelong musician, Mr. Stribling is the owner of the Uptown Lounge, where he has created a space for the community to gather and experience the joys and sorrows of music and jazz together. Each song performed, each riff created, resonates with the history and passion of the genre. At the lounge, the history of past legends is honored while new talent is allowed to flourish.

Running the Uptown Lounge has been a passion project for Mr. Stribling. Under his guidance, it has become a beacon for music enthusiasts, a place where the tradition of jazz is both honored and innovated upon. Alan’s vision has fostered a vibrant community where musicians can collaborate, inspire one another, and connect deeply with their audience. Through his efforts, the rich tapestry of Kansas City jazz continues to flourish, bridging generations and nurturing a shared love for this timeless music.
